It is a rather difficult task to decide who are the top managers of the club. However, we have dared to make a ranking list with the managers that we think deserved the most applause. Read along and see if you agree with our choice.

Pep Guardiola – The Top of the Tops

Pep Guardiola became a coach of FC Barcelona in 2008, and he deserved the Federation of Football History and Statistics to announce him twice as the best football coach in the world. In 2011 Guardiola won the FIFA award for best manager.

During his management, the club won some significant trophies, which include two UEFA Super Cups, three consecutive Spanish Super Cups, and once the El Classico one. Some of the most talented footballers who played for FC Barcelona joined the club during Guardiola’s era. Under the management of this prominent coach, the club won 143 of 200 matches.

Johann Cruyff – the Inventor of Tiki – Taka

Johann Cruyff was the manager of FC Barcelona from 1988 to 1996. It was under the management of Cruyff when the club was referred to as the ‘dream team,’ and it included famous football stars as Salmas, Guardiola, and Romario.

The titles that the team managed to win with Cruyff being its coach were: Copa del Rey, La Liga, the European Super Cup, the European Cup, and the Supercopa de Espana. Cruyff is also famous for introducing an innovative form of play with the interesting name of tiki-taka.  Tiki-taka aims at short passings of the ball so that the team can possess it for as long as possible.

Frank Rijkaard – Focusing Both on Defense and Attack

Frank Rijkaard became the manager of the team in 2003. Thanks to the coaching of Rijkaard, FC Barcelona won their second UEFA Championship Cup, defeating Arsenal. Rijkard focused his footballers on defense, as well as attack.

His tactics proved to be successful as due to them, the team won the European Super Cup and two League titles. The International Federation of Football History and Statistics announced Rijkaard to be the world’s best manager. During his era, Barca won 167 matches out of 283.

Louis Van Gaal – Being a Manager of Barca Twice

Louis Van Gaal happened to be a manager of the team twice. The first time was from 1997 to 2000, and the second one  – from 2002 to 2003. During his era, FC Barcelona won La Liga twice, the European Super Cup, and Copa del Rey.

In 2000 Van Gaal decided to resign as a manager. However, he returned just two years after that. The second time when Van Gaal was a manager was not a very successful one. During this period the club won only six matches. This was the reason for forcing Van Gaal to resign as a manager in 2003.
